SEO audit services

In short: an SEO audit is a structured review of everything that affects how your website performs in search. Ours is carried out by people, not just a tool export: we explain what is wrong, why it matters for your business, and the order in which to fix it.

Definition

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a diagnosis. It examines a website’s technical setup, content, internal linking, backlinks and search visibility to find what is limiting organic performance, and then recommends specific fixes.

Automated tools are useful for spotting symptoms, but they cannot tell you which of 300 warnings matter, which are false alarms, or how issues relate to your business goals. A useful audit separates the critical from the cosmetic and ends with a plan someone can follow on Monday morning.

Scope

What our SEO audit covers

  • Technical health Crawlability, indexing, status codes, redirects, canonicals, sitemaps, robots.txt and Core Web Vitals. More in technical SEO.
  • Site structure Navigation, URL patterns, internal links and orphan pages.
  • Content and on-page Titles, descriptions, headings, thin or outdated pages, and how well pages match search intent.
  • Keyword cannibalisation Pages competing for the same searches, with merge, redirect or differentiation recommendations.
  • Backlinks Quality, relevance and risk in your link profile, and gaps compared with competitors.
  • Local presence Google Business Profile, citations and location pages, where relevant.
  • AI search readiness Entity clarity, answer-first content and structured data that help AI systems interpret your business.
  • Measurement Whether GA4 and Search Console are set up to track enquiries and organic performance correctly.

Process

How the audit works

  1. Brief

We agree your goals, priority services or products, known problems and any upcoming changes such as a redesign.

  2. Data collection

We review Search Console, analytics, a full crawl, backlink data and the search results for your priority keywords.

  3. Analysis

An SEO specialist reviews findings manually, confirms real issues and estimates impact and effort.

  4. Report and plan

You receive a clear report and a prioritised action list, grouped by quick wins, foundational fixes and longer-term work.

  5. Walkthrough

We walk your team through the findings and answer questions so the plan can be implemented confidently.

Timing

When an SEO audit makes sense

01

Before a redesign or migration

Know what is working today so you do not lose it in the new build.

02

After a traffic drop

Separate algorithm changes, technical errors and competitor gains.

03

Before hiring an SEO provider

Use the action plan as a brief, so you can compare proposals on the same scope.

04

When growth has stalled

Find the constraint — technical, content or authority — that is limiting further gains.

FAQ

Questions about seo audit

Can’t find your question? Ask us directly and we will answer it for your situation.

What is included in an SEO audit report?

Our report covers technical health, site structure, content and on-page optimisation, keyword cannibalisation, backlinks, local presence where relevant, AI search readiness and analytics setup. Each issue is explained with its likely impact and a recommended fix, and the whole report is summarised in a prioritised action list.

How is a manual SEO audit different from a free online SEO checker?

Free checkers scan for common technical warnings. A manual audit interprets those findings in context, checks what search engines actually index and rank, reviews content quality and intent, and prioritises fixes by business impact. Tools find symptoms; an audit diagnoses causes.

How long does an SEO audit take?

It depends mainly on the size and complexity of the site. A small business website takes far less time than an ecommerce store with thousands of filtered URLs. We confirm the timeline in the proposal once we have seen the site.

Do we have to hire you to implement the recommendations?

No. The audit is a standalone project and the action plan is written so that your team or another provider can implement it. If you would like help, we can quote for implementation separately.

Can you audit a site before it launches?

Yes — pre-launch audits on a staging site are one of the most cost-effective ways to avoid SEO losses. We check redirects, indexability, metadata, internal links and structured data before anything goes live.
