Technical SEO services

In short: technical SEO makes sure search engines can crawl, render, index and correctly interpret your website. We find the issues that quietly suppress rankings — wasted crawling, pages missing from the index, slow templates, broken redirects, conflicting canonicals — and fix them with your developers or ours.

Definition

What is technical SEO?

Technical SEO is the part of search optimisation that deals with how a website is built and served rather than what it says. It covers whether search engines can reach your pages (crawling), process them including any JavaScript (rendering), store them (indexing), and understand how they relate to each other (structure, canonicals, internal links and structured data).

It matters because content and links cannot help a page that is not indexed, is treated as a duplicate, or loads so slowly that users leave. Technical problems are also common after redesigns, platform changes and CMS plugin updates — often without anyone noticing until traffic drops.

Scope

What our technical SEO service covers

  • Crawl and index analysis Comparing what exists, what is crawled and what Google actually indexes, using Search Console’s page indexing report and a full crawl.
  • Site architecture Logical URL structure, sensible depth, and internal links that route authority to the pages that earn revenue.
  • Duplicate and canonical control Self-referencing canonicals, parameter handling, trailing-slash and www/non-www consistency, and pagination.
  • Redirects and status codes Removing redirect chains and loops, fixing soft 404s and making sure removed pages return the correct status.
  • Core Web Vitals Improving LCP, INP and CLS through image handling, script loading, caching and template changes.
  • JavaScript SEO Checking that content, links and metadata are present in the rendered HTML Google sees, not only after user interaction.
  • Structured data Valid JSON-LD for Organization, Service, Product, Article and breadcrumbs that matches visible content.
  • Sitemaps and robots.txt Clean XML sitemaps of canonical URLs only, and robots rules that block waste without hiding important pages.

Process

How we deliver technical SEO

  1. Access and baseline

We connect Search Console, analytics and, where possible, server logs, and record current indexing and performance.

  2. Full crawl and render check

We crawl the site as a search engine would, including JavaScript rendering, and compare it to what is indexed.

  3. Prioritise

Issues are ranked by impact and effort, so the first fixes are the ones most likely to matter.

  4. Implement or brief

We implement directly on WordPress, Shopify and many CMSs, or write clear tickets with acceptance criteria for your developers.

  5. Verify and monitor

Every fix is re-tested, and we watch Search Console for the changes to be picked up.

FAQ

Questions about technical seo

What is the difference between technical SEO and on-page SEO?

Technical SEO concerns the infrastructure: crawling, rendering, indexing, speed, URL structure and structured data. On-page SEO concerns the content of individual pages: titles, headings, copy, media and internal links. Both are needed; technical issues usually come first because they can stop good content from being seen at all.

Do Core Web Vitals affect rankings?

Core Web Vitals are part of Google’s page experience signals. They are rarely the deciding factor on their own, but slow, unstable pages lose users and conversions, and in close competitions experience can make a difference. We treat them as both an SEO and a conversion issue.

Can you work with our in-house developers?

Yes. Many clients prefer us to write precise tickets — what to change, why, and how to test it — for their own team. We then verify the changes after release.

Is technical SEO a one-time job?

The initial clean-up often is a defined project. After that, websites keep changing — new pages, plugins, templates and releases — so we recommend periodic checks or ongoing monitoring as part of a wider SEO engagement.

Do you handle website migrations?

Yes. Migration support includes URL mapping, redirect planning, pre-launch testing on staging, launch-day checks and post-launch monitoring of indexing and traffic. Large or complex migrations are covered under enterprise SEO.

Does technical SEO help with AI search?

Yes. AI search systems rely on content they can fetch and parse. Clean HTML, fast responses, accurate structured data and consistent entity information make your pages easier to use as sources. See AI SEO services.
